Mental Atiitude

Anger and Anxiety Increase Heart Attack Risk.

An analysis of more than 300 heart attack patients indicates that intense anger or anxiety dramatically increases an individual's risk for a myocardial infarction in the hours immediately following such an occurrence. More specifically, in the 120 minutes following a bout of intense anger, a person's risk for a heart attack increases by 8.5 times and an extreme anxiety episode elevates the risk by 9.5 times!
Senior researcher Dr. Thomas Buckley writes, "While the absolute risk of any one anger episode triggering a heart attack is low, our data demonstrates that the danger is real and still there." He further comments that the increased risk of heart attack after intense anger or anxiety is "most likely the result of increased heart rate and blood pressure, tightening of blood vessels, and increased clotting, all associated with triggering of heart attacks."

"Fitness Mantra" by Neeraj Mehta

“So much for water” By Neeraj Mehta

Staying hydrated is a must in summer as water forms most of the body weight. Water ensures proper functioning of each internal organ. The body loses water through perspiration, urine, tears and breathing. Dehydration can cause dizziness, light-headedness, reduced concentration, cramps, low energy, and sluggish digestion. During summer, the body tends to lose more water due to heat and humidity.

Apart from drinking water regularly, one can try other steps to prevent dehydration. For one, cut down on high-protein foods and add more carbs. Other ways to stay hydrated in summer include adding fruits and salads to your diet.

Diet: Summer has lots of fruity options, which are also a delicious way of fulfilling the water loss.
Watermelon tops the list in terms of water content (almost 90-95 per cent). It also has nutrients like vitamins, potassium, Lycopene etc. Cantaloupe, commonly known as musk melon, is another rich source of water. Strawberries are high-fibre, low-calorie fruits that help detox the body. They are rich in water and full of antioxidants.

Quench your Thirst

"Let’s Quench Our Thirst!!" by Neeraj Mehta

The only way to beat the horrid heat is by keeping yourself hydrated. Water, tea, coffee, fresh fruit juice and even food, just keep them coming. Our body is made up of about 60 percent water which is why it’s central to our body’s day-to-day functioning.

When we sweat, we lose essential salts like sodium, potassium and chloride, which are responsible for the body’s cell-to-cell communication and muscle operation. And not drinking enough water could cause muscle cramps, droopy skin, the inability to focus, dizziness, fatigue and even mood swings.

As the temperature spikes, so does your body’s need for water. And to prevent yourself from being dehydrated you need to focus a bit more on what you drink or in this case, eat. Experts suggest that food is also a good source of water. According to fitness expert and nutritionist Neeraj Mehta, “One should drink plenty of water in the summers.

But solid food also provides a surprising amount of water which can balance water level in your body.

Gynecomastia

"The chest alert" By Neeraj Mehta
No men would like to carry that extra bulge on his chest. A high oestrogen level causes excessive chest fat accumulation in Men. There has been an increase in the condition referred as ‘man boobs’ or ‘gynecomastia.’ If you are suffering from gynecomastia, your health is at a risk of cardiovascular diseases or diabetes. However, regular exercise and a healthy diet routine can help you gain a lean chest and an improved fitness level.
Push-ups are one of the best exercises for chest muscles and tricep muscles. It is important to concentrate on the arm position during it. An incorrect biomechanical movement can give you pain in your wrist. Beginners may try a few modified versions of push-ups.
Push-up with Stepper
Position yourself on stepper with your thighs on it, face down with arm extended. Bend your knees upwards and cross your feet together. Position your palms just below your chest line.
Inhale, tuck your navel in, and go down with lifted rib cage, without arching your lower back.

Gladiator Yoga and ladder Rig+ Kick Combat Workout By Neeraj Mehta

Gladiator Yoga
Gladiator yoga is a combination of combat movement and Supreme Yoga stretches. It is based on dramatic marshal art attack & defense sequences along with Tai-chi meditation (meditation with motion). The technique involves several body balancing movements, extreme stretching, exhale and inhale with lot of screaming which is termed as Diaphragmatic and costal breathing. This breathing technique generates a lot of power and concentration, which helps in body balancing during the extreme stretches as your brain is completely alert when you are screaming.

ladder Rig + Kick Combat Workout
The session starts on the ground with kick combat movements. The sequence of many front and side mini kicks will be practiced. Lot of lunges and squats movements are included in the sequence. After the ground sequence you will need to hold the ladder with the arms and try to pull the legs towards the ground. After this warm up session you move to more intense movements. One of such movement is, to jump and hold the ladder and do a chin up, then jump down and do split legs stretch. Male Memory Performance Declines Faster with Age!
Though brain shrinkage occurs with age, it appears that brain volume in the areas of the brain that concern memory tend to decrease at a faster rate in men starting at around age 40. Experts suspect that lower rates of vascular disease among women may contribute to their superior brain health as they enter their later years.
JAMA Neurology, March 2015

Folic Acid May Reduce Stroke Risk in People with Hypertension.
Chinese researchers have found that folic acid may help reduce the risk of stroke in people with high blood pressure. The study tracked more than 20,000 adults with high blood pressure over four years. Investigators found that participants who randomly received folic acid along with their blood pressure medication had a 21% lower risk of stroke than those taking blood pressure medication alone during the course of the study. Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum, a preventive cardiologist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City adds, "If all that is required to prevent the greatest health threat worldwide is a vitamin, then we need to consider checking patients' blood levels of folic acid and supplementing if needed."

Understanding Health

Read Food Lable (Understanding Health)

This may confuse you, but if you look closely at the bottom of a label, you will find the %Daily Values are based on a 2,000 calorie diet. Neeraj Mehta, fitness expert and nutritionist, tells us, “Your daily values may be higher or lower depending on your calorie needs. %Daily Value is a standard set by US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which every food product manufacturer has to follow. The nutrient values that are listed are according to this standard.”
Calories
Calories provide a measure of how much energy you get from a serving of food. The calorie section of the label can help you manage your weight. Mansi explains, “40 calories is low, 100 calories is moderate and 400 calories or more is high.”
Light
A food product that has the word light in its name could mean various things. Neeraj explains, “Light could suggest a nutritionally-altered food product, which contains half the fat or one third lesser calories. It could also mean that the sodium content of a low-calorie or low-fat food has been reduced by half. Sometimes, it also describes food properties such as texture and colour.”
