Here's how Sean Penn got his lean and muscled look for 'The Gunman' - By Neeraj Mehta

"There is no age to get fit" By Neeraj Mehta

Weight training

Penn took up a stringent form of weight training that enabled him to lift weights in minimal repetitions but with heavy weights. The muscle he gained from this practice is closely formatted to the classic body building plan of lifting weights to a maximum of at least four times a week. However, you can’t  start just like that, warns fitness therapist Neeraj Mehta. "Anyone above 50 must consult  their physician and get his consent before beginning with any fitness training, more so if they have a medical condition. They should go ahead only if they are cleared," suggests Mehta.

Thruster
Sets: 5
Repetitions: 5
Rest: 90 seconds

Expert’s Opinion: "It’s a good exercise to strengthen the hips, lower back, hamstring as well as abdominal muscles. However, the sets of five could be a bit too much for beginners above 50," says Mehta.

Sumo dead lift high pull.

Sets: 5
Repetitions: 5
Rest: 90 seconds

Expert’s opinion: "As we age, the release of growth hormones reduce, which causes loss in muscle mass. Dead lift is one of the best exercises to strengthen legs and release growth hormones. But the chances of injuries are also high. Hence, this exercise must be done under close supervision of a trainer. The number of sets depend on the fitness level and experience of a person," informs Mehta.

Celebrity Fitness Therapist and Nutritionist Neeraj Mehta advices, “The only way one can burn holiday fat is by exercising regularly for at least forty minutes. Divide your week’s schedule where you do three days each for cardio training and strength training."

Regarding diet, he says, "Start your meal with a full plate of salad. This will fill you up so you won’t consume too much calories in your main course. Try not to include solid and liquid together. Divide your 3 big meals to 6 small meals and eat in equal intervals.”

Does your kid need to lose weight?

“Does your kid need to lose weight?” by Fitness Expert Neeraj Mehta

A 2014 report by the WHO also mentioned that children these days are getting fatter and not healthier, which is a matter of concern. ‘A relationship between lack of activity and increases in body fat levels for children is the major concern these days. Even though the importance of exercise and outdoor activities cannot be stressed enough, parents tend to ignore this aspect completely,’ says Neeraj Mehta,

Fitness Expert, Nutritionist and Director of GFFI Fitness Academy.

What can parents do to fight obesity?

‘Parents should take a keen interest in their children’s fitness activities as they would do for their child’s academics,’ says Mehta. If your child is an introvert, who doesn’t enjoy mingling and playing with other kids take an initiative to help engage in activities that he/she can enjoy alone and still be fit. Here are few suggestions by Mehta:

Introduce your child to yoga: Yoga is an excellent way to tone up and be fit; the earlier you start the better. Even in ancient times, students were taught sun salutation or pranayama for its varied benefits.

Targeted workouts

“Exercise according to body type for best results” Tips by Celebrity Fitness Expert Neeraj Mehta

So you are all set to hit the gym. You want to lose weight quickly and tone your body. And you are ready to work hard as well. But even after hours of hard work, you don’t get the desired result. What is the problem? Chances are that you are not exercising as per your body type. There are four body types: Straight, Apple, Pear and Hourglass. Each has a specific shape and needs a targeted workout.
Straight
This type is rectangular in shape and is often termed “Banana-shaped”. Fat accumulates more on the thighs and the torso so curves are not really noticeable.
Exercise routine
Let the body shape up symmetrically. This body type should not focus on working out on any specific muscle group; instead all the muscle groups should be exercised. Workout should include High Intensity Interval Training, which is very effective for losing weight, and intensive strength training to tone the body.
